Kern County Fire Apparatus December 2010 By Shaun Ryan Kern County, California Fire Apparatus Kern County, California ranges from mountainous ski areas in the north to the Mojave Desert in the south. It has a variety of fire departments including federal, state, county and municipal agencies. In 2010 we were able to add a substantial number of posed apparatus images to our collection from these departments. The largest department in Kern County is the Kern County Fire Department which operates from 46 stations and this agency was the focus of much of our photography this past year. The apparatus of the Kern County Fire Department is primarily Pierce. However, the fleet includes other commercial chassis builders and an interesting variety of specialized apparatus including crane and refueling support trucks. All of the
Kern County Fire Department is white with blue lettering and striping,
a most attractive color scheme. Other departments include the Bakersfield
Fire Department which is also heavily invested in Pierce equipment particularly
Pierce Quantum vehicles. This municipal department has a very modern lineup
of pumpers, aerials and hazmat vehicles. The following
images are typical of the photography which we are able to offer from
Kern County. Please see our latest listing for Kern County for a detailed
listing of apparatus photography currently available from this interesting
area. |
